Chapter 3 Walkthrough: Nitty Gritty
Chapter 3, Nitty Gritty, covers Levels 37 to 52 and is the richest chapter for alternate solutions. Coins, keys, buttons and boxes can each be sorted two or three ways, and several levels are pure packing puzzles where every item has one exact spot. Here is how to solve every level and collect every star.

How to approach packing levels
Levels 40, 41, 42, 46, 47 and 48 all ask you to fit everything into a fixed space with nothing left over. They feel random at first, but the same method works on all of them:
- Empty the container completely. Partially packed boxes hide the true shape of the free space.
- Place the largest and most irregular item first. It usually has only one possible position.
- Use the outlines. Shadows, dents and printed silhouettes on the base of the box mark exact spots.
- Finish with labels. When the game wants labels aligned, the items are already in the right place; you only need to swap identical-sized pieces.
Levels 37–44
Level 37: Cleaning Supplies
Slide the spray bottles and cleaners together so their curved sides lock into each other with no gaps. The sponge does not slide with the others; drag it into the last remaining notch.
Level 38: Batteries
Pack the batteries so they fit tightly, then make sure the printed designs line up into one picture across the whole set. If everything fits but nothing happens, the labels are the problem.
Level 39: Coin Collection 3 solutions
- Solution 1: lay the coins in a row from the largest to the smallest.
- Solution 2: stack them into one tower, largest at the bottom.
- Solution 3: order them by the number of straight edges, from the most to the fewest. Count carefully: some coins look round at a glance but have many short flat sides.
Level 40: Utensil Drawer
Fit the spatulas, whisks and spoons into the drawer so nothing overlaps and every compartment is full. Put the long utensils in first along the outer edges.
Level 41: Light Bulbs
The bulbs come in different shapes and the box has matching cut-outs. Match each bulb silhouette to its slot, starting with the unusual shapes that have only one possible home.
Level 42: Junk Drawer
Fit every odd item into the drawer organiser. When you place the crayons, line them up in rainbow order from red through to blue to unlock Draw Me A Rainbow. One colour is noticeably missing from the set; that is the joke behind the achievement description.
Level 43: Paint Cans 2 solutions
- Solution 1: spin the cans so the paint drips continue from can to can.
- Solution 2: spin them so the triangular shapes on the labels join into one large triangle.
Level 44: Button Tin 2 solutions
- Solution 1: sort the buttons into groups by colour.
- Solution 2: sort them by the number of holes in the centre.
Levels 45–52
Level 45: Key Ring 3 solutions
- Solution 1: order the keys from tallest to shortest.
- Solution 2: order them from the fewest holes in the head to the most.
- Solution 3: look at the cut end of each key. The teeth form a number or a countable set of pegs; arrange them from 1 to 7.
The third solution is one of the most commonly missed stars in the base game. Zoom in on the tips: the shapes really do read as digits once you look for them.
Level 46: Toolbox
Pack screws, nails and small hardware into the toolbox trays. The long items, such as the screwdriver, go in first and define the remaining spaces.
Level 47: Bathroom Cabinet
Fit the bottles and jars onto the shelves and line up the decorations on their labels. Click the lid of the cotton swab jar to open it; it only fits once the lid is off.
Level 48: Pegboard
Hang every tool on the pegboard so each one sits on its outline. Hammers and saws first, small pliers last.
Level 49: Tarnished Coins 3 solutions
- Solution 1: polish every coin with the cloth until it is completely clean.
- Solution 2: click each coin until it is fully tarnished.
- Solution 3: clean and dirty them so the row runs from the most tarnished to the cleanest.
Solution 2 is a good example of a “messy” solution: the game accepts undoing your own work as long as the result is consistent.
Level 50: Garage Boxes 2 solutions
- Solution 1: sort the items into boxes by colour.
- Solution 2: sort them by purpose: gardening, sports, shoes and electronics.
Level 51: Moving Boxes 2 solutions
- Solution 1: stack the boxes so the printed arrows join into continuous lines.
- Solution 2: stack them so the tape strips line up across the boxes.
Level 52: Wilted Flowers
Wipe the vase clean with the cloth, then lift each drooping flower until it stands up and blooms. The level ends Chapter 3.
Achievements in Chapter 3
| Achievement | How to unlock | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Nitty Gritty | Finish Chapter 3 | Level 52 |
| Spring Cleaning | Collect every solution in Chapter 3 | Levels 39, 43–45, 49–51 |
| Draw Me A Rainbow | Crayons in rainbow order | Level 42 |
| Triple Threat | Solve a level three ways | Levels 39, 45 or 49 |
Star missing after a solve?Reopen the level and check that nothing is left in the work area. Leftover crumbs, cloths or a single loose item can stop a solution from registering, especially in Levels 47 and 49.
Next, the game turns to plants, stones and symmetry in Chapter 4: Inner Nature. If you prefer to tackle the packing levels with a system, our symmetry and packing tips go deeper.
